28/01/12 Splitz Utd 1 v 3 Rampant Horse League Kick Off 2pm Reporter - Kevin Foran. |
| Splitz were at home against Rampant Horse after a late reversal of the fixture. Splitz started off very strongly and the game was even. Dan Braule was good in the Splitz goal and the Splitz midfield were coping with a quick Rampant Horse push for goal. Rampant Horse scored there 1st after a run into the box from a Rampant Horse striker put the ball past Dan as he came out to challenge. This was against the run of play as Splitz looked good. Splitz still pushed and were creating some good openings with Kevin Foran and Joseph Long working well together on the Splitz left. Adam Woodard and Harry Allison were also looking good in the Splitz midfield. Then on 35 Rampant Horse got there 2nd when a ball was crossed into the area and headed over Dan in the Splitz goal. Towards the end of the half, Adam Woodard was unlucky not to head a corner in and Jason Downing forced a great save from The Rampant Horse keeper just before half time. Splitz came out for the 2nd half and forced the Ramp back and were pressing well to get on the score sheet. Jason Downing was finding it hard to force the RH keeper to save. Kenny made two changes and brought on Michael Pye and Andrew Moore to try and strengthen the Splitz attack. Nicholas Middleton put a great chance wide when he was one on one with the RH keeper. Steven Crowley shot wide and Splitz were totally frustrated by the lack of good chances. There was some excellent football coming in patches from Splitz and they never gave up. Then around the 65th minute mark, RH made it 0-3 when a floated ball in to the Splitz area, caught Dan out as it went in over everyone. Splitz still pushed for the goal that they richly deserved and in the end it came. Jason Downing shot from inside the RH area and the resulting touch from Andrew Moore found the back of the RH net. This was Andrews 1st goal for Splitz and was richly deserved for him. The goal came a little to late for any chance of a come back. Kenny stated after the game that he was proud of the lads 2nd half determination when they played some of there best football so far this season. Splitz are away to Great Cressingham this coming Saturday and players are asked to meet at the Cherry Tree CP for 12.30pm. |

15/10/11 Splitz Utd 2 v 2 Trunch (Draw 3-3 After Extra Time) Primary Cup 2nd Round Kick Off 2pm Reporter - Kevin Foran. |
| Splitz were at home but played at Swanton Morley as Beetley was not available, against North East Norfolk club, Trunch. From the off Splitz were on top and causing trouble to the Trunch defence. Jason Downing and Ben Grainger having chances. On 20 Harry Allison found a loose ball on the edge of the Trunch area and caught it perfect to give the goalkeeper no chance to his right. A good effort from Daniel Wilson on 25 was put just over the bar. Trunch thought that they had the equaliser with a shot that was going into the top right corner on 35 but a fantastic two handed save from Daniel Braule kept the ball out. Marc White was putting some good corners in but it remained 1-0 to Splitz at half time. Kenny made a couple of changes with David Escrader coming on for Kevin Foran and Michael Pye coming on for Daniel Wilson. From the start Splitz were off again and two minutes into the half David Escrader went on one of his known runs through the entire defence of Trunch and punted home to give the keeper no chance. Trunch came back well and on 52 a ball in the Splitz area was adjudged handball by the referee from Steven Crowley and he awarded the spot kick. Daniel Braule in the Splitz goal diving the right way but he was unable to stop it. On 65 Trunch nearly equalised when a shot hit the bar but on 67 Trunch got there equaliser. A good move to put the ball past Dan who was now carrying an injury and struggling. Splitz were totally dominant for the last 20 minutes and should have finished the tie off but it ended 2-2 at full time so extra time was played. Trunch then came out with vigour and deserved there goal 7 minutes into the first half but Splitz showed character as they have all season and fought back. The second half got under way and Richard Robins was creating problems for the Trunch defence and 7 minutes into the half Jason Downing got the equaliser. Splitz had a great chance with a minute to go when Michael Pye missed what was surely going to be the winner but he put the ball over with his head. A replay will now be at Trunch next week. |
08/10/11 Mattishall A 1 v 0 Splitz Utd League Kick Off 3pm Reporter - Kevin Foran. |
| Splitz Utd were away too Mattishall A in what was an entertaining evenly fought encounter. It was a good start from Splitz after the previous weeks defeat too Bawdeswell but they did not create any serious chances. Mattishall soaked up the early pressure as they were playing uphill. Mattishall then came back at Splitz having a few shots but not on target. Darren in the Splitz goal made a great save that came off the crossbar on 30. Then Jason Downing had a great chance from a good cross from Daniel Braule, when he just headed wide. Jay then forced a save from the Mattishall keeper that came off the upright. It remained 0-0 at the interval. Splitz were now playing uphill and played some good early football but Jay was finding it hard to have any clear cut chances on goal. Mattishall were also showing their potential and were making this match a good battle for Splitz. Then on 70 minutes Mattishall broke the deadlock. A Mattishall player was allowed to get into the Splitz area and shot to Darren's right and scored. It was unlucky for Darren as he had a great match and it looked unlikely that he would concede. Splitz came back at Mattishall with 10 minutes left and brought on Kevin Foran and Daniel Groarke (debut) to sustain the pressure. Unfortunately no clear cut chances were made and a late penalty shout went unheard from the referee who had a good game. It was an unfortunate defeat for Splitz, now there second in as many weeks but they faced a good young up and coming Mattishall A side. It was also a good sporting encounter and congratulations have to go to Mattishall but we look forward to the return match at Beetley. Splitz are next at home to Trunch in the Primary Cup 2nd round. Unfortunately the Beetley pitch is not available so the match will be played at Swanton Morley. Kickoff is at 2pm and all players are asked to be at Swanton Morley for 1pm. |
17/09/11 Walsingham Utd 3 v 3 Splitz Utd (Splitz Won 3-4 After Extra Time) Pease League Cup 1st Round Kick Off 3pm Reporter - Kevin Foran. |
| Splitz were away to Walsingham Utd in the Pease Cup 1st Round and came away with a hard fought 3-4 win. It was going to be hard from the start as Splitz only had the 11 players that they came with so there were no substitutes to use. There were some close early exchanges and Splitz took the lead in the 12th. A great run through midfield by Steven Crowley stunned the Walsingham defence and his final pass to Kenny Escrader was perfect enough for Kenny to slot his shot pass the Walsingham keeper. Splitz were really now playing with 10 men as a back injury to Kevin Foran was hindering the Splitz defence. Walsingham came back and could have equalised straight after if it wasn't for Darren in the Splitz goal. It took Walsingham until the 20th to get there equaliser from a dubious penalty. Harry Allison was adjudged to have handled the ball in the Splitz area and the resultant penalty was converted. Splitz came back and restored there lead 3 minutes after the penalty when Jason Downing scored from the edge of the Walsingham area with a brilliant left foot curler that went round the keeper. Walsingham then came back at Splitz again but some great determination from the Splitz defence kept them out. That was until 8 minutes from half time when Walsingham got there second equaliser and it remained 2-2 at the break. There was some good early chances from both sides in the second half but Dazza in goal for Splitz was in fine form and coming off his line quick to frustrate the Walsingham front men. Jason Downing was also in good form and 2 great shots were equalled with fine saves from the Walsingham keeper. On 65 Splitz were awarded a free kick just outside the Walsingham area. Jason Downing's fine shot hit the crossbar only to fall to Steven Crowley to put Splitz 2-3 up. Walsingham kept coming back at Splitz. Kevin Foran, Steven Crowley and Harry Allison were now struggling with injuries so Splitz were drastically under strength. Walsingham looked strong towards the end and got there equaliser 5 minutes from time when a shot just outside the Splitz area beat Dazza. It finished 3-3. Splitz had to adjust to combat the Walsingham strength's and did so superbly for the extra 20 minutes of time. It was a tough battle that went through to the final 3 minutes when Daniel Wilsons powerful free kick, could only be palmed away by the Walsingham keeper only for the ball to fall to Harry Allison to prod in for a great winner for Splitz. It was an excellent result for all the players who fought right up till the end and everyone concerned should be proud of themselves for there sheer determination. Man of the match had to go to captain Steven Crowley who was a rock in midfield and battled on after some strong challenges. This win now sets up a 2nd round encounter away to Diss Town A on October 29th. Splitz are next at home to Felmingham in the Norfolk County Primary Cup 1st Round. All players are asked to be at Beetley for 1.30 for a 2.30 ko. |
