31/12/11 MULBARTON NET FIVE |
| Splitz were away to a young Mulbarton Wanderers Reserves in an end of year encounter. Splitz gave new boy Mike Annakin a start after being transferred from Narborough. It was looking good for Splitz up until the last minute of the 1st half when in the 46th minute they conceded what looked a dubious corner only to concede from a header. From the re-start the referee then blew his whistle for half-time. It was now a battle for Splitz who were not playing as well as they could do. Darren Williams in goal for Splitz was playing a good game and in the 50th minute he made an outstanding save from a corner. A header from a Mulbarton player was going into the bottom right of the Splitz goal but Dazza got a hand to it to put the ball over the bar. Unfortunately from the resulting corner of that Splitz did concede when a rebound from a shot hit a Mulbarton player and went in. The Splitz players were calling for a hand ball but the referee did not disallow the goal. Splitz were now facing an uphill task and in the 63rd minute they conceded a 3rd goal. Two more goals late on inflicted what was Splitz worst league defeat of the season. On reflection maybe Splitz did not deserve anything from the match but a five goal defeat flattered Mulbarton at best. Splitz now have a weeks rest until they play Colkirk away on January 14th. Players are asked to meet at the Cherry Tree CP for 12.45pm. |
